Reheating southern red rice & sausage

What’s wonderful about southern red rice and sausage is how easy it is to make and how you can customize it! Don’t like sausage? Leave it out! You can substitute it with bacon, your favorite vegetarian alternative, or just leave it entirely meatless. When I reheat this, I like to put a smidgen of water on it and heat it up on the stove so the rice doesn’t dry out.

It’s also delicious heated up in the oven or air fryer the next day! Add some cheese, toss on a fried egg, and it’s out of this world delicious!

It’s a wonderful lunch or dinner, but makes a fabulous side dish for brunch. You can have this as is, or add it to a tasty Easter spread, BBQ, potluck & more. Notes

** White rice doesn’t form a fluffy rice, but a stickier rice.
You can easily make this in the instant pot. Follow the recipe as is, until it’s time to cook the rice for 15 minutes. At that point, set your instant pot for manual 10 minutes with the rice, sausage, veggies, & water inside. Let it come to natural release for 2-3 minutes before releasing the remaining steam.
