How do I make this homemade hamburger helper?
You’ll love how simple this recipe is! Grab your skillet (with a lid) and get to cooking.
You’re going to brown your meat and veggies, add some spices, cook your pasta and done! Super easy, right? What makes this dish fun is how you can sub pretty much any of the ingredients too. Don’t like beef? Use ground chicken or turkey. Don’t like beef broth? Use chicken or veggie. Want to make this even more homemade? Use your own homemade broth.
If you want to add broccoli to this dish, wait until the last 3 or so minutes to add your broccoli to the cooking pasta. Or defrost the broccoli in the microwave using frozen broccoli, chop into smaller, bite-sized pieces and add right before you add your cheese. Cauliflower or chickpeas would be delicious as well!
We use mild cheddar with this recipe, but it’s also delicious with sharp cheddar, parmesan, Gouda and more.

What can I serve with this recipe?
It’s a hearty dish all on it’s own but feel free to serve it with a side salad, Texas toast or roasted veggies. Sautéed green beans are also amazing with this hamburger helper recipe.
