If you’re a mom, you know how hard it is to find childcare these days. Add in the ever staggering cost of food and gas, and it’s no wonder we’re all looking for ways to save money and make more money. I’ve been working from home since 2018, so I totally understand why many other women are looking to do the same. To help you find a way to add to your income, I’ve put together a list of 5 legitimate ways to make money from home as a mom.
5 Ways to Make Money from Home as a Mom
Become a Pinterest Strategist
Did you know that people have pinterest assistants that not only create the pins, but also have a pinning schedule, strategy, and more? And it’s their day job?! If you love Pinterest, this would be a great job for you. You can easily schedule a week or two worths of content ahead of time and then have your day open. If you’re looking for a career with a ton of flexibility, this is a great option for you. I was a Pinterest VA for years for clients, from bloggers to small businesses.
While you do need to stay on top of Pinterest SEO and strategy, this is a job that you can take anywhere and have unlimited earnings. There’s a myriad of free resources available online and also paid courses to really help further your choice. I would recommend starting with free trainings to see if it’s something that interests you. Check out my friend Jena’s website where she has a free Pinterest mini course as well as podcast, community and detailed articles.
Become a Virtual Assistant
I remember way back in 2018 when I first heard the term virtual assistant from my friend Katie at Cast Iron Recipes.
It blew my mind to think that I could take the skills I had learned from working retail and in college and apply that to an online job! But you can and it’s wonderfully flexible. If you have ever wanted an income that could range from an extra $500 per month to upwards of $30,000- this is the ideal job for you. Your income truly is up to you, from setting your prices to the hours you work and who you work with. From doing email management and newsletters, to setting up websites, helping create Etsy listings, assisting in managing Facebook groups, and more- there really is no limit to what a virtual assistant can do.
My friend Dalaina is a 6 figure Virtual Assistant and mentor and has oodles of free and paid content. From how to jumpstart your business to how to get clients and more, she covers it all in her courses. Check her out here.
If you’re wanting to look into more free content, look into podcasts and youtube videos! When I started my career, I absorbed as much free information as possible. I love listening to and following Jasmine Star – she’s a wealth of information as well as Rachel Pedersen.
Become a Content Creator
We’ve all seen the rise of the influencer in the last decade, from Facebook to Instagram to TikTok. But you don’t have to have a massive million people plus following to make a full-time income as a content creator. Many influencers are making a full-time income with less than 10k followers, while some only have Facebook groups with only 500 people in them.
This is more of a long game and definitely not an overnight success job, unless you get lucky and go viral like Alix Earle or Elyse Myers. But even still, after going viral, you’ll have to put in the work. From reaching out to brands, to creating content, to creating affiliate links and more- this can be a wonderfully lucrative job. But it can also be one where you spend more than you make for a long time.
If you want to learn more about becoming an influencer and making it a career, check out my friend Pam, who is not only an influencer herself, but also an influencer coach. She even has a $9.99 subscription on Instagram where you can join her group coaching program with weekly and monthly challenges, additional discounts on 1:1 coaching and more. I’ve worked with her for years.
Gwen of The Spark School has been in the influencer world for over a decade. I’m actually in her group coaching program right now and it’s honestly been life changing. From working on the backend of the influencer business to learning how to pitch, mindset and more, this program is perfect if you’re ready for a true deep dive into growing your business to the highest level possible.
Become an online seller
If you enjoy shopping and finding great deals, this is a great option for you! While you’ll most likely have to invest some money in the beginning, you’ll make it back in spades if you’re selling quality merchandise. Many full-time Poshmark and eBay sellers do spend hours combing through garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores, so that is something to keep in mind.
Become an online tutor
If you’re a teacher, have a degree or even just a specific skill-set, you can apply to become an online teacher or tutor! Since 2020, there has been a massive surge in parents looking for online education for their children. I know we’ve utilized Outschool so many times in the last 4 years that I’ve forgotten some of the classes my kids have taken!
From virtual dance and cooking classes to an entire comprehensive curriculum, there’s endless choices in what to teach. There are other platforms that you can use as well, think Instagram subscription for makeup lessons, cooking classes, sewing lessons and more- you can do it all online.
With these 5 options, you can easily and quickly start to earn an income from home. I hope these ideas helped you and you end up with a job you love! Let me know below if you’re going to look into any of these options in the comments below!
