Not everything can be done ahead of time, and some things have to get done before others can happen (you can’t wrap a present you don’t have yet). Plan out what needs to get done so you can start checking off your list is step 1 in your 10 Things To Do Now to Prepare for Christmas!
Make your gift lists, things you need to do, and even things you want to do this holiday season. This way, you make sure you can easily keep track of everything and get everything done.
If you’ll be sending out Christmas cards this year, go ahead and order them or get your photos done! This way, you have plenty of time to send them before Christmas. Minted has adorable ones, as does VistaPrint. They’re both always running special so you can get a deal for them too!
Put together your Christmas budget and think about how much you want to spend on each item on your list. Divide it out and make sure you have enough in your savings for it.
Are there any decorations that shouldn’t stick around another year? Or anything you want to replace or get? Start going through to see what’s going to stick around for another year. Donate what is worth donating & toss what isn’t worth it.
It’s never too early to start Christmas shopping! Whenever you know what you’re going to buy for someone, start doing the shopping! I like to buy and wrap at the same time, so that way it’s one less thing to worry about! If you’re looking for gift ideas, check out my gift guides. I’ve got gift ideas for her, gift ideas for him and gift ideas for kids.
Dedicate an area of your home to gift wrapping! This way, you can easily have all of your gift supplies out and ready, and you’ll be able to wrap them as you go. We love making our own wrapping paper with white paper that I have the kids color all over. It’s so cute!
Keep a place in your home free for gifts (wrapped and unwrapped), so you don’t lose any gifts in your home this year. Make sure this is a place that kids can’t get into easily to make sure no gifts are spoiled. We have a space in one of our closets where we keep the gifts.
Running to the store during the holidays is going to be crazy. Help make it easier by having some of your cooking essentials at home and ready to go. If you know, you’ll be making a lot of cookies, having things like butter and flour already on hand will make it go faster! You can utilize grocery deliver to make things easier as well. Where we live is outside of a delivery route, so I love to do grocery pickup with Target or Walmart.
Can you cook any food and freeze them? What about desserts or snacks? Start making things ahead of time, so you don’t spend your holiday season in the kitchen unless you have to be there. This can help with class parties and cookie swaps too!
