Olive Oil – A necessity for cooking.

Cream of Mushroom Soup – Any kind will do!

Chicken Broth – Make your own with some boullion or the premade stuff in the carton.

Water – For cooking the pasta of course.

Fettuccini – The BEST pasta for this recipe!

Onion Powder – Let’s bring on some extra flavor!

Garlic Powder – Again, flavor, friends!

Substitutions + Variations for Cream of Mushroom Chicken and Pasta

With how simple this recipe is from the start, there are quite a few different things you could do in order to doctor it up to your liking.

Here are some ideas:

Add some cheese – Everything is better with cheese! Opt for some shredded parmesan cheese to add that extra bit.

Change up the pasta – One of the easiest things you could do is change out the Fettuccini for your favorite pasta variety. I think that al dente angel hair pasta or farfalle pasta would work well in this creamy pasta dish.

Up the creaminess – Make the sauce a bit creamier with the addition of some cream cheese or heavy cream.

Up the flavor profile – Add some red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, or Cayenne pepper for an even more flavorful sauce.

Change up the chicken – Chicken breast is my favorite option but you could also use boneless skinless chicken thighs!

Add some texture – Don’t forget the veggies! Some sliced whole mushrooms would of course be a good option but as would some diced green peppers or some fresh spinach.
