2. “The Polar Express” (2004)

The Polar Express, based on the picture book of the same name, is every child’s dream: getting to ride The Polar Express on Christmas Eve, and visiting Santa Claus’s toy factory in the North Pole. This movie’s animation is so detailed and eye-catching. You’ll be craving hot chocolate for weeks to come (trust us).

3. “The Year Without a Santa Claus” (1974)

If you’re looking to get real old school, you’ve got to watch The Year Without a Santa Claus with your brood. This 1974 stop-motion animation follows what happens one year when Santa Claus decides to take Christmas Day off. While Mrs. Claus and two elves try to swoop in and save the day, complications arise, resulting in plenty of Christmas calamities and entertainment.

 

4. “The Santa Clause” (1994)

If you haven’t seen The Santa Clause, or its subsequent chapters The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, you’re missing out. Tim Allen plays Scott Calvin, who inadvertently becomes the new Santa Claus after the real man in red falls off his roof.

5. “Elf” (2003)

No must-see holiday movie list is complete without mention of the instant classic 2003 movie, Elf. Starring Will Ferrell as a stay elf who finds himself living in a human’s world and interacting with human everyday life. This movie is beloved for a reason: you and your family will share equal amounts of giggles and aww’s as you watch Buddy the Elf maneuver through the world.
