Setting a Fall Tablescape
Decide on your color scheme
Are you a fan of neutrals, jewel tones, Buffalo plaid or the traditional fall orange and brown? You can create a beautiful space with any color scheme, but if you want it to be on the more subtle side – go neutral. If you love vibrant design, go for the jewel tones. Are you a classic type? Go for the more traditional brown and orange or the Buffalo plaid that’s been wildly popular for years.
I chose to use jewel toned velvet pumpkins I picked up from the Target Playground (you know, the former dollar section) but these are very similar. The rest of the tablescape is neutral, like the table runner and napkins, to allow those to be the star of the show.
Pick out the perfect flatware
You may think pretty flatware isn’t a necessity, and you could just use plain utensils…but you would be surprised. Picking something like this Rose Monogrammed Flatware adds a sweet, personal touch to your table. Choose a set in your monogram to set the table with, so you’ll have enough forks, spoons and serving ware for all your courses.
Setting a fall tablescape: Add florals
Flowers, greenery, dried herbs… you name it, you can add it! I love real flowers, but I tend to keep those in my kitchen. For setting this fall tablescape I went with faux flower arrangements that I can save and repurpose throughout the year. Since the velvet pumpkins were the focal point of the table, I went with more muted, neutral colors to allow them to pop.
Add personal touches
Much of this fall tablescape is secondhand, from local thrift stores, but these Crystal goblets were my great grandmother’s. They add the perfect sentimental touch to the table and also are a wonderful conversation starter. Adding in personal pieces like those help to create a warm space and more individually to your space.
Not sure what to add? Mix matched table linens, glasses or China are a sweet way to add individually and warmth. Homemade candles, pumpkins or acorns painted by loved ones or even flat stones painted with fall greenery.
Enjoy your one of a kind fall tablescape!
No matter how you decide to set your fall tablescape, make sure you infuse your personality into it! It’s so much more fun to have a one of a kind space that you love then a cookie cutter one you see in a store or on Pinterest.
