Have you ever wondered what it’s like to get Botox, Sculptra or other injectables? Well I’ve done a few and wanted to share with you! In this post, I’m talking all things Botox.
Even when I was a teenager, I said I would get Botox to help assist with aging gracefully. When done correctly, injectables are like good makeup. They help make you look well rested & like you aren’t completely exhausted, but aren’t overly done.
I chose to go with Tracy at Twin Ports here in Duluth. Not only does Twin Ports have an amazing reputation, but they know what they’re doing. Their staff is well educated and stays on top of trends & techniques. I told Tracy exactly what I wanted – a well rested look that could still move & not look or feel frozen.
Botox is one of the most affordable options to help lift & get rid of those pesky lines. I had a few on my forehead that were bothering me & my brows were starting to get a little heavy. Tracy did the Botox in a few spots to lift my brows a bit and smooth those lines, without completely eliminating movement. She also did a “lip flip” which is when Botox is in the Cupid’s bow area to help give more definition. I bit through my top lip when I was 8 and haven’t had much definition there since. I was so excited there was an easy, affordable way to remedy that!
The Botox took about 4 days to become apparent in my case, although it can take up to two weeks to fully present. Per Tracy’s recommendations, I’ll go in for a touch up at 3-4 months for my forehead. The lip flip doesn’t last as long, only about 6-8 weeks.
My Botox injections came to about $325, which is around the average for someone in my age group who has taken (semi) decent care of their skin. Is Botox a total fix? Of course not. You still need to make sure you’re wearing sunscreen, using good skincare, eating right & drinking enough water. The results look that much better if you’re taking care of yourself. I consider it part of a well rounded skincare routine to help keep me looking my best.
I’ll have an update about the Sculptra soon, so make sure to check back to give it a read!
