Is anyone else missing taking trips to Target and Hobby Lobby, or is it just me? Staying at home can be pretty tricky. Especially if you aren’t used to spending that much time with your family. Our house isn’t exactly huge, and having everyone home at once can be pretty overwhelming. Whether you just became a stay at home mom, or you are just looking for ways to beat cabin fever, these tips will help you stay at home without losing your sanity.

Make a Schedule

There is an ongoing joke that the most regretful purchase of the year has been a 2020 planner, and while that might be a little true, this doesn’t mean all of our systems and routines need to go out the window! Just because you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you can’t create some routine around here! Make a schedule for the day, even if they all involve staying at-home activities. This will keep your family busy, and give some structure to your days.

Don’t Spend All Day Doing Housework

You’re stuck at home, which means now is the time to do all that leftover housework, right? While taking this time to clean your baseboards and move the couch are both great endeavors, make sure you aren’t just spending your whole day doing the boring stuff! Part of staying home should be to spend time as a family and do some fun activities! Read books, watch movies, play games, and have some fun!

Spend Time Without Your Kids

I love my kids, but sometimes I want to pull my hair out because they won’t listen to me! This happens to every single parent out there! Spending time without your kids doesn’t mean that you lock them in their rooms and open a bottle of wine. But it means that you should have some time with your kids at some point. Escape to your room or take nap time to enjoy yourself!

Make it a Vacation

Staycations can be so much fun, and they can add some fun to your overall home atmosphere. The air might be a little stale, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a great time at home! Make a list of some of the things you might typically do on vacation. See if you can bring any of those ideas home! A blow-up pool in the backyard, a tent in the living room, or even takeout on your doorstep might be just the thing you need to make your home into a vacation resort!

Practice Contentment

If being grateful for what you have was easy, we’d all be doing it! This is not something that happens overnight, but it’s something you can work on while you’re at home. Be grateful that you have toilet paper in your home, that you have food to feed your family. Be happy you have a warm bed to sleep in and that you have the power to keep Netflix going.

You don’t have to leave the house to escape cabin fever! These tips will help you stay sane when you have to stay home no matter what the reason.
