Are these premade sugar cookies as good as homemade?
With all that being said, it’s just as fun and a smidgen easier to buy already sliced cookies from the cooler section in the store! It totally still counts as homemade y’all, no shame. I think they taste just as good honestly, if not better than some homemade cookies. I always buy Pillsbury cookies, but you can buy whatever brand your family enjoys. This easy baking hack works regardless of the brand you choose!

Where to purchase premade cookie dough
You should be able to find this Pillsbury cookie dough at any of your local markets, like Target, Kroger, Publix and more! Like I mentioned above, you can use any premade dough you’re comfortable with or you can make your favorite cookie recipe. Although using premade cookie dough will save you time, sometimes you just want a delicious homemade cookie. If you’re using premade, make sure to check and see if it’s on sale too! A lot of times grocery stores will do a buy one, get one free sale or the brand will have a coupon. Always worth checking their websites before heading into the store! Many times the Dollar General will carry these brands and products as well and they accept coupons too!
How do I make these premade sugar cookies?
I followed the instructions on the packaging, waited until they cooled, then went to town decorating. If you aren’t great at flooding cookies with royal icing, then this is just as great an option! The kids got to decorate their own cookies, which they absolutely loved. It’s so easy to just pop the cookies out of their little tray and onto a cookie sheet. It says to bake between 10-14 minutes and I normally do around 12, then pull them out before they look ‘done’. If you wait until they’re actually looking done in the oven, they normally burn or get a smidgen too crispy once they are cooled.

Once totally cooled, decorating was so fun! I’m not a cookie decorator, which I knew to begin with, but really discovered during a cookie decorating class my friend, cookier Lacy of LJ’s Sweets and Treats put on. With the vanilla frosting in the bag with the tip already in place, it was so easy to make the cookies look cute. As a teen, I loved Great American Cookies mini chocolate chip cookie sandwiches and these taste pretty much exactly like them. If you love those soft, homemade tasting cookies like I do, then you’ll definitely love these easy premade sugar cookies.
So if y’all need some cookies in a pinch or want homemade taste without waiting for dough to chill, butter to soften, mixing and more… these are fantastic! I can’t tell you how many people have asked for my recipe and I always tell them, “It’s Pillsbury!”
