Weekly date nights are essential for keeping your marriage, both happy and healthy! Date nights are the chance to reconnect with your spouse and do something that’s not house-related or doesn’t involve the kids for a while. If you’re on a tight budget, or can’t leave the house right now, then your date nights might have to be at home. You don’t need a lot of time or money to have a great date night with your spouse! Here are some great date nights that all involve staying at home.

Turn Your Home into a Home Theatre

Set up a bunch of candy and popcorn in your kitchen. Then make your own little snack pack kits and get your “concessions” from the kitchen! This extra step sounds so silly, but it can make it feel more like a date! Next, turn down the lights and snuggle up on the couch for a movie night.

Do a Home Project Together

Everyone has a honey-do list or something that you mean to do around the house, but don’t get to it. Why not mark off some of those things together! This can be a fun way to chat and bond together while making your house that much better to live in.

Have a Wine and Design at Home

Open up your favorite bottle of wine, grab some painting supplies, and make your own wine and design night at home. You can look up a painting tutorial on YouTube and follow along for half the cost at home! You can find paintbrushes, paint, and even canvases at The Dollar Tree if you’re on a tight budget.

Get to Know Each Other Better

Conversation starters are a great way to spend some time talking with your spouse. Sit on the porch and spend some time talking to one another. You can print off some questions to get the conversation started, or invest in a Table Topics game so that you can have easy date night questions to ask each other! You may even learn something new about your spouse that you weren’t expecting!

Camp Out in the Backyard

If you have a backyard, why not pitch a tent and enjoy a night of camping together! If you don’t have a backyard, you could always make your tent in the living room instead. Sit on the lawn and go stargazing. Have a picnic in a tent and enjoy some alone time together without the kids for a bit. You can even get sleeping bags and spend the night there to make it a romantic overnight date you won’t soon forget. If you have a grill, you can make your meals outside and even roast s’ mores!

You can still have a great date night at home! Some of our family’s favorite date nights don’t involve leaving the house at all. Hopefully, this list will inspire you to come up with some fun date nights of your own so you can stay at home with your sweetheart!
